Punk at heart, the Fanahana is my take on the thruster.
It takes the dimensions of a shortboard and the volume distribution of a twin.
The narrow tail, the wide point pushed forward and a single to double vee bottom make it an incredibly sensitive board.
Its narrow tail lets it transition from rail to rail very quickly.. and draw incredibly tight turns, even at speed.
This is balanced by a fairly flat scoop rocker from the middle of the board through the tail, allowing it to plane easily and generate plenty of speed.
The Fanahana is designed around a 2+1 setup: twin fins with a stabilizer.
This is my idea of the thruster equation.
Twin fin, something loose and, at the same time, really pivoty.
It's a board made for working the wave, controlling your speed and, above all, stalling.

For hand drags and getting properly covered up, this is my favourite shape in the whole range. The narrow tail and 2+1 setup make stalling feel incredibly natural. Put your weight over the front foot and the tail lets go just enough, bleeding off speed and allowing the board to drift slightly sideways instead of driving forward. It creates exactly the slower line that lets the barrel catch up to you.
The Fanahana is the queen of stalling !
I love it for beach breaks and for surfers looking for something ultra-reactive and fast.
It's definitely a board for someone coming from a shortboard. Not an easy board.
It's a board that really represents me.
It's incredibly sensitive. You either love it or you hate it. There's no middle ground !

My Fanahana is 5'11" x 19" 3/8 x 2" 1/2. I’m 1.83 m tall (6'0") and usually weigh around 78–80 kg (172–176 lbs).
