I'd been thinking about building a pure performance twin without side bites for a long time. I wanted something with a narrower nose, more “thrusterish” !
At the time, I was riding a shorter, more compact Buyo with a stabilizer. Looking at the way it flowed through the water, I felt like turning it into a performance fish.
That's how the Skunk came about.
It takes the rocker and volume distribution from the Buyo, the nose from the Fanahana, and a reinterpretation of the tail from Mark Richards' famous 1980 Retro Pro Twin Fin.
Once I'm in the water, I forget I'm riding a twin.
It feels like I'm surfing a thruster.
After riding it, Nick Amorotti told me it felt like a thruster too. That was exactly the feedback I was hoping for, the best one !
The only thing that reminds me I'm on a twin is the loose. If you surf off the back foot and go looking for it, it's there.
Since the Skunk came along, it's been the board that finally put an end to the Pesciolino's monopoly in my car.
A short for the Medi, a fish for the ocean !

My Skunk is 5'9" 1/2 x 19" 1/2 x 2" 1/2. I’m 1.83 m tall (6'0") and usually weigh around 78–80 kg (172–176 lbs).
